Ter gelegenheid van mijn 27ste naamdag dan toch maar een flesje gekraakt.
Zo lekker doordeweeks en toch niet zo doordeweeks .
Deze fles al klein tijdje liggen en er al een tijd naar benieuwd geweest.
Niet dat ze er zo extravagant uitziet maar er was iets wat me boeide ...

Ik vermoed de inhoud ervan en het eventuele genot dit zou kunnen opleveren .

Welbedacht (pronounced "well-be-duct") is situated in one of the Cape's most picturesque wine regions, Wellington, which is ideally suited to the cultivation of world class wines. This breath-takingly beautiful farm is the jewel in the Wellington crown nestled into the northwest side of Groenberg and-, offering expansive views, serene farm-style ambience and a range of extraordinarily good wines.

Welbedacht is also home to the Burger family, surely one of the country’s most recognised sporting names. Schalk Sr was a formidable Springbok rugby player back in his day. His son Schalk Jr has followed in his dad’s size 14 footsteps representing his country and being selected as the 2004 International Rugby Player of the Year. Second son, Tiaan, has hung up his provincial rugby boots and now heads up the cellar’s marketing operations. Daughter René is herself a chip off the old block, having gained representative colours for netball.

In 1995, Schalk bought his first farm, Af-en-Toe, and started farming with 40 hectares of Cinsaut and Chenin Blanc. This was followed by the purchase of Welbedacht in 1997. Dating back to 1830’s it was a bit run down, but the water and the established old trees may have led to the decision to buy it. Welbedacht means ”well thought out” in Dutch, and this is precisely how the Burger family approached the extensive restoration of this gracious property to its previous glory.

Donker rode wijn ,
In de neus pruimen , zoetigheid , kruidig , een sprokkeltje hout en wat donker rode vruchten .

Smaakt in het begin vrij zoet pruimen wat kaneel en dan plots wat kruidiger wat meer pit laat ons zeggen precies beetje gepeperd
En dan begint het precies een kleine combo .
Net als een getrainde bokser die wel weet waar en wanneer het nodig is te raken . Zuren die gevolgd worden fruit dan weer wat zuur hintje kaneel.
Een mooie afdronk om toch wel drie a vijf keer goed te smekken.
En te concluderen , jep dit is zeker wijn .


Geen spijt van mijn keuze ...
