Domaine Marc Morey - Chassagne-Montrachet

Vorig weekend proefden we in het uitstekende restaurant Le Terroir in Santenay van een Saint-Aubin 1er cru Les Charmois 2011 van Marc Morey. Bijzonder geslaagde Saint-Aubin. Aromatische neus met de juiste hoeveelheid boter en amandel. Rijke, ietwat mollige mond met ondersteunende zuren. Knap! Dit domein wil ik zeker eens bezoeken.

Burghound: The always candid Bernard Mollard commented that 2011 "was not very easy due to a mediocre summer that was wet and rot was constantly threatening. Thankfully, the last 2 weeks of August saved us as it was sunny and largely dry, both of which helped accelerate the maturities and stopped any rot problems. I was worried though because I took some sugar readings and they were definitely on the low side. We decided to begin picking on the 31st of August and the fruit was almost perfect. Sometimes you just can't predict what's going to happen even when you're watching things unfold. The potential alcohols turned out to be sufficient if not high and with good acidity levels. Overall, the 2011s are going to provide a lot of pleasure as the wines are fresh and easy to enjoy. In all honesty though, Burgundy dodged a bullet in 2011 because it easily could have been really ugly."

Inderdaad, ik was redelijk onder de indruk van deze Saint Aubin. Vorig jaar proefden we de Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Les Chenevottes 2010 in La Cabotte te Nuits. Denk aan de Saint-Aubin maal 3 ;-) Ik gaf 'm toen 93. Dit domein staat zeker op het lijstje
